- The College of Arts and Sciences Ferlic Summer
Undergraduate Research Scholarships in the Sciences
For 2012 these
scholarships include a $3,200 stipend for 10 weeks of
full-time research
participation with a facutly mentor from the Departments of Atmospheric
Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Exercise
Sciences, and Physics. Applications are being accepted through January 27, 2012, with
preference given to students with prior research experience.

Summer Research Scholarships
The College of Arts and Sciences offers a
limited number of highly competitive Undergraduate Summer Research
Scholarships. For the 8 week 2012 summer program, any student
currently enrolled in the college who will be returning to fulltime
undergraduate
study at Creighton for at least the Fall Semester 2012 may submit an
application for a Summer Research Scholarship. Applications are being accepted through January 27, 2012.
- The Honors Program Bisenius Research Scholarship.
Student members of the Honors Program
are elegible for this scholarship, made possible by a generous
endowment established by the Bisenius family. Any area of
research is appropriate. As with the previous scholarships,
applications are being accepted through January 27, 2012.
- Clare
Boothe Luce Scholarships for Women in Science
These scholarships are awarded to Creighton women who
are current
sophomores or juniors majoring (or planning to major) in
either
Atmospheric Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences,
Mathematics, or Physics. Good candidates are those with solid
GPAs (above 3.45) and an interest or experiences in doing scientific
research. If you would like to know more about these

IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research
Excellence: The NE-INBRE
Scholar Program
NE-INBRE Scholars participate in research
projects in
the laboratories of INBRE Faculty Associates in the Departments
of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology during the
academic year, and in a summer workshop offered on the campuses of the
Ph.D. granting institutions in Nebraksa: Creighton, the
University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the University of Nebraska,
Lincoln. Scholars also pariticipate as summer undergraduate
research assistants in INBRE Faculty Mentors' research laboratories
located at the Ph.D. granting institutions.
Scholars are eligible to continue research with
INBRE
Faculty Mentors during their second year in the program. Results of
their academic year research are presented at annual meetings
of
the Nebraska Academy of Sciences, and that of their summer research
at annual staewide Nebraksa INBRE meetings. Successful
Scholars
are offered graduate fellowships to pursue advanced degrees at one of
the Ph.D. granting institutions in Nebraska.
- The C. Bertrand and Marian
Othmer Schultz Collegiate Scholarship
The Nebraska Academy of Sciences accepts applications
for
a scholarship in memory of C. Bertrand and Marian Othmer
Schultz. This scholarship is offered to a Junior or
Senior
enrolled in an accredited college or university in the state of
Nebraska. Applicants must have a declared major in a natural
science discipline (chemistry, physics, biology, geology) and be
anticipating a career in a science related industry, science teaching
or scientific research. Further

This award recognizes
undergraduate
students enrolled in courses in the College of Arts and Sciences for
outstanding achievement in research methodology and writing.
Usually having a late fall deadline, students may submit any
paper
written during the current calendar year, accompanied by
a letter
of support from a faculty member. Questions can be directed

African American U.S. citizens or
permanent residents who are full-trime students at any four-year
college or university, have junior year academic status, are majoring
in life or physical science and have aminimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 are
eligiible to apply for one of 15 annual awards. These
scholarships are for up to $25,000, and include two summer
internships at a Merck Research Facility. Applications noramally
must be completed by mid-December of each year.
- NASA Internships: Undergraduate Student Research Program, NASA -- USRP
NASA offers undergraduate students across the United States
internships at NASA centers under the supervision of technical
mentors. The program seeks rising sophomore, junior and senior
students majoring in engineering, math, computer science and life
and physical sciences. Applications may be for 10-week
summer session or 15-week spring or fall sessions. Stipends
are $6,000 for the summer session and $9,000 for fall or spring, plus
a round-trip travel allowance.
