Ferlic Summer Science Research Scholarships
Established
in 2006, the Ferlic Summer Research Program was made possible by a generous
donation from Dr. Randy Ferlic to support undergraduate science research at
Creighton University. This program
provides direct support for fulltime undergraduate science research to be
performed during the summer under the direct supervision of a Creighton University
faculty member. Ferlic Scholars receive $3,200 stipends along
with additional financial support for research supplies (up to $500).
In the summer of
2012, fourteen students conducted research in the
areas of biology, biochemistry, chemistry and physics. The
program continues for its eighth year in summer 2013.
Ferlic Summer Research Scholarship Requirements
- Any student currently enrolled in CCAS who will be returning to fulltime undergraduate study at Creighton for at least the Fall Semester 2013 is eligible
- Research projects may involve any area of science offered within the CCAS
- Commitment to 10 weeks of full-time work (40 h/week)
during the summer (due to time demands, participants are allowed to take
no more than one summer session course while participating in the Ferlic
Summer Research Program)
- Presentation of results at a research poster presentation during the Fall semester
- GPA no less than 3.0
- Recommendation by the advisor with whom the student
will conduct the research project (as part of the application process)
